Travel Oregon Wants You to Go On an Oregon Epicurean Excursion

Aug 26, 2010

Oregon travelers and food lovers have a good reason to celebrate!  On August 23, Travel Oregon launched the The Oregon Bounty Wanderfeast. Oregon Bounty is a statewide promotion that celebrates Oregon’s culinary abundance and the fall harvest season.

“The intimacy of our culinary scene is one of the incredible, relatively undiscovered aspects of Oregon,” said Travel Oregon’s Director of Brand Strategy, Holly Macfee. “It’s one of the few states where you can eat or drink right alongside the producers that grow, make or cook the ingredients. Fall is one of the best times of year for Oregon foodie travel since many of the products are at their peak.”

From August 23rd through November 30th, Oregon Bounty highlights unique travel experiences, fall events and the state’s chefs, winemakers, brewers, farmers and culinary artisans. For a complete list of celebration information, contest rules and to enter, visit www.Traveloregon.com/Bounty.

Where to Go? Try Split Dine and Drink in Bridgeport Village To Unwind at The End of the Day

Jan 20, 2010
Enomatic Wine System

Enomatic Wine System

Hotel guests are often asking our staff about some of the unique places in the Tigard / Tualatin area to try and there has been quite a bit of buzz about Split Dine in Drink in our neighboring Bridgeport Village.  In fact, taking in a movie and enjoying a couple of glasses of great wines seem to be a favorite way to unwind at the end of the day.

What we like the most about Split is their selection of Enomatic Wines . Enomatic is a wine distribution system that creates a closed environment that prevents wines from oxidizing. Once a bottle is opened, the system instantaneously replaces any wine poured with an equal volume of nitrogen gas. It ensures that each glass will taste as if the bottle was just opened and it allows guests to taste premium wines without blindly committing to an entire bottle. This is a fantastic way to enjoy special wines without having to splurge for an expensive bottle.      The pours are computer controlled…you can order a Taste (1 oz), 1/2 Glass (3oz) or Glass (6 oz).

They also feature a warm and relaxing atmosphere and a menu with a great mix of small plates and dinners.

Recurring Events
Split has launched all new dinner, lunch, and happy hour menu’s with the vision and creation of new Executive Chef Russell Schillereff. Menu’s can be found in the Dine section of our site.

Sunday “Champagne Brunch” is served from 10am-2pm, with champagne $18: without $13 and children under 12 only $8.
Menu: Lunch and Dinner

Happy Hours everyday from 3pm-6pm, and again from 9pm- close, Specials include $5 wine, and $3 beers. The food menu can be found in the dine section of our site.

Not sure what to get?  Here are some customer suggestions we found from reviews we found on YELP:

I had the calamari appetizer and it was the best I’ve ever had. I followed that with a chicken and cheese penne pasta which was incredibly rich, but I took most of it home as leftovers, which I always nice. I had a cocktail and my date had a couple glasses of wine, which were actually quite good.

The small plates are yummy here with the chicken skewers and chicken salad topping my list. Purposely order light, so you can indulge and have some chocolate gelato for dessert.

Featured Business of The Month: Zao Noodle Bar in Bridgeport Village

Jan 16, 2010

Zao Noodle Bar With so many businesses, retail stores and dining choices in the Tualatin / Tigard, Oregon area- we aim to highlight some of our favorites each month by telling our guests all about them.  And since Zao Noodle Bar brings authentic street-food of China, Thailand, and VietNam to to Bridgeport Village- we thought they would be an excellent business to shine a spotlight on this month!

Our guests who have visited their Bridgeport Village location have complimented their Asian inspired menu and service many times. Favorites include Ginger-Garlic-Chili Chicken and Crunchy Thai Shrimp Salad. Promoting good health and nutrition to their customers is important to them and they openly disclose all nutritional information on their site.   Their menu features dishes that are low in fat, high (or low) in carbohydrates, and can meet nearly any dietary preference.  We love their fresh ingredients and their organic broth they use to make their Noodle Bowls.

Other things we love: They are family friendly and their “Tofu Fries” are to die for!  Overall, this restaurant has received mostly positive reviews!  Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!

Note from the Company President Matthew Baizer:

Zao has plenty of options for all our guests so whether you are looking for low in saturated fat (Chicken PhoChicken Pho), light in calories (Crunchy Thai Shrimp SaladCrunchy Thai Shrimp Salad), vegan (Vietnamese Rice Noodle Bowl with 5 Vegetables & TofuVietnamese Rice Noodle Bowl with 5 Vegetables & Tofu), gluten free (Pad ThaiPad Thai), cholesterol free (Zao Spicy Black Bean Veggie Stir FryZao Spicy Black Bean Veggie Stir Fry) or indulgent (Banana Spring Roll with Coconut Ice CreamBanana Spring Roll with Coconut Ice Cream) we have an option for you.

It’s my mission to expand Zao to hungry pan-Asian diners across the country. To that extent we have made Zao available for licensing and franchising opportunities nationwide. Our licensing business is essentially for non-traditional locations and you will find our first limited service food court version of Zao (Zao Noodle Express) thriving on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) in the heart of Los Angeles. With more non-traditional sites to come as well as full service franchising opportunities, this is an exciting new way to bring our food to throngs of hungry folks who haven’t been exposed to much of the fabulous fare that Southeast Asia has to offer. In order to fit with the Zao philosophy of embracing technology wherever effective and possible, we are taking all new franchise applications exclusively online. If you are interested in learning more, visit the franchising section.

Wondering Where to Watch the Rose Bowl in Tualatin , Oregon?

Dec 28, 2009

Oregon DucksThis Friday, January 1 is the BIG GAME.  I am talking about the 2010 Rose Bowl in sunny Pasadena!   If you are like many, you were not able to secure your tickets in time.  If that is the case, where will you be going to root for (or against -depending on who you ask) the Mighty Oregon Ducks?!?!

Need a Local Suggestion?   The Hot Seat Sports Bar in downtown Tualatin is a local favorite.  Since opening in 1999, it has become the city’s premier adults only sports bar. Sports fans LOVE their 21 HDTVs (yes- 21) two big screens including a 100″ HD screen so you never miss a second of sports action.  Their menu features great selections for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner – and seven different varieties of hot wings.

They also have a solid beer selection- drafts, bottles or cocktails.  Be sure to call ahead on Friday to check for seating availability- or plan to get their early.

May 13, 2009

Here is what the Grand Hotel in Bridgeport Village looks like from the air (click to enlarge):

grand-hotel-bridgeport-arial-1280

For reference, Interstate 5 is visible just off the bottom right corner of this picture.  At the top of the photo are our neighbors to the North, Whole Foods Market, and to the left is REI and several other of our new neighbors, including Velocity Sports and others.

Also pictured here at the top right corner is the retail center that hosts Starbucks Coffee, Sushi Hana and Jared Galleria of Jewelry.  PF Chang’s and the rest of Bridgeport Village Shopping is located just above this picture.

In fact, the shiny blacktop in front of the hotel is Hazelfern Rd.  A 5 minute walk on this road leads directly into the heart of Bridgeport Village Shopping.  We are the only hotel located in Bridgeport Village and within walking distance of the shopping.
